Catholic Parenting Initiative

The Catholic Parenting Initiative of Western New York is a dynamic five-year effort launched by OLV Charities through a $1.25 million grant from the Lilly Endowment’s Christian Parenting and Caregiving Initiative. In partnership with the Diocese of Buffalo, the initiative brings families together across local parishes with one clear purpose: to strengthen parents and caregivers as the primary teachers of the faith.

Through meaningful resources, shared experiences, and practical support, the initiative helps families grow in confidence as they live out their Catholic values at home and pass them on to the next generation. It’s about equipping parents not just to teach the faith, but to model it, celebrate it, and make it an everyday part of family life.

The initiative’s vision is to serve parishes by offering spiritual formation, resources, workshops, and formational experiences that deepen love of the Church, encourage personal growth, and equip families to confidently share their faith and values.

By strengthening parish ministries and accompanying families, the initiative seeks to bolster family faith formation and empower parents as the primary faith educators in their homes.
