Friends of Father Baker Reception Services Awards

About the Organization:

What was founded in 1854 as a sanctuary for homeless, abandoned and orphaned children has continued as a “City of Charity” today.  The Our Lady of Victory Organizations include one of Western New York’s largest social service agency’s, Baker Victory Services; a philanthropy and support services organization known as Our Lady of Victory Homes of Charity; and the Our Lady of Victory National Shrine and Basilica, a parish and elementary school.  Our Lady of Victory National Shrine is also the final resting place of our founder, Venerable Nelson Baker.

Each year, more than 4,000 children, teens, the developmentally disabled and families are cared for by Baker Victory Services.  Services that impact these vulnerable youth include mental and behavioral health services; foster care including an emergency foster care housing; mother child group home; educational programs; and care for individuals with developmental disabilities.

About the Awards:

Each year, the Father Baker Service Awards are presented to two individuals who embody Venerable Nelson Baker’s compassionate care for youth in need. This  award is presented each November at the organization’s annual Friends of Father Baker Reception.   To view past award recipients, click here.
